Grandfather is my first inspiration
My grandfather was a writer, a poet, a linguistic, and a highschool teacher. He wrote all of his books from his home office, writing and researching after coming back from his school work, and staying up until the late night hours. He worked relentlessly until his final days.
My grandfather worked consistently with unmatchable dedication and commitment after he retired, always woke up early and started writing and researching every single day for around eight to 12 hours a day everyday. He wasted no time. I grew up seeing him living like that everyday, and it always amazed me and inspired me. But when I think of it now, as a journalist, researcher and translator, who needs to read and write all the time, this hits different. Back then I was just a student, but now I am a freelance writer who often struggles with discipline with work, I find myself wonder how he could do that.
He was not lazy, he was not hesitant, and he wasted no time, he didn’t let his age or his very difficult life circumstances, including losing his house due to terrorism, ever stop him.
Grandfather, you are my inspiration to keep going and to excel at my writing.
